Africa : Opening of the environmental technological science fair

To facilitate the meeting between young innovators, investors and actors of change, the PDTIE is organizing a science, technology and environmental innovation fair from February 18 to 20, 2025 at the Yaoundé convention center in Cameroon. Aiming to support the potential for research and innovation in sustainable development in Central Africa, this exhibition will allow numerous Cameroonian and Congolese researchers and young entrepreneurs to showcase, over three days, their technological innovations designed in environmentally friendly conditions.

In the current global context, very uncertain and vulnerable to climate change, countries are oriented towards wealth creation using green methods. To strengthen research and innovation in the Congo Basin with a view to preserving the environment, the project for the deployment of environmental technologies and innovations for sustainable development and poverty reduction (PDTIE) is incubating many young people in green production. Objective: support the potential for research and innovation in sustainable development in Central Africa. To facilitate the meeting between young innovators, investors and actors of change, the PDTIE is holding from February 18 to 20, 2025 at the Yaoundé convention center in Cameroon, a science, technology and environmental innovation fair.

“Global economic growth in recent decades has come at the expense of the environment and the preservation of ecosystems. In the case of Africa, growth has been based largely on massive exploitation of natural resources going beyond their regeneration possibilities”

Chinmoun Oumarou, Representative of the Minister of External RelationsCameroon

The products in the spotlight range from green agri-food processing to biomedical production.  For the case of Cameroon, the innovations presented here contribute to meeting the needs of populations in the agriculture and agri-food sectors, reliable alternatives for the import substitution policy according to the Cameroonian authorities. These environmental innovations are carried out in particular by researchers and academics from Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“I think the future of the Congo Basin is very promising just looking at the exhibitions that are there and seeing the commitment of the innovators. We believe that all the actors involved in the preservation of this basin have realized that better performance will be visible in the years to come”

Alphonse Waguena, OIF Central Africa RepresentativeTogo

In this sustainable construction, the projects incubated by the PDTIE, financed by the international organization of the Francophonie, reveal African creative genius. Placed under the high sponsorship of the Prime Minister of the Republic as well as under the coordination of the Ministry of External Relations, this exhibition aims to put environmental sciences, technologies and innovations at the heart of sustainable development and wealth creation in the Congo Basin.
