Ten thousand and forty-seven jobs were created in the industrial sectors in Angola in 2023, according to the press release from the meeting of the Local Governance Council held on 03 August 2024 in the province of Cunene, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

The meeting, which assessed the report on the activities carried out by the provincial governments in 2023, concluded that 80,856 jobs had been created in the field of commerce. According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Rui Mingêns de Oliveira, this substantial increase in employment demonstrates the effectiveness of the policies and initiatives implemented by the Ministry to stimulate economic growth and encourage the country’s industrial and commercial development.

According to the National Statistics Institute (INE) Employment Survey report, the unemployment rate reached 31.9% in 2023. Angola has 5.4 million unemployed people, divided between 2.5 million men and 2.9 million women, according to INE data, which shows that unemployment among women is slightly higher than among men.
