Cameroon : A training center launched in Yaounde

On February 10, 2025 in Yaoundé, the Youth Art Culture Sport and Memory (JACSM) association of Cameroon launched the activities of the education and socio-professional inclusion center through basketball. Open primarily to young girls and people with disabilities, it gives them the opportunity to better integrate into society through the practice of basketball and professions that revolve around the discipline. The launch was also punctuated by the reception of the lighting work for the sports facilities of the Essos bilingual high school which hosts this center.

Basketball is used to provide an opportunity for social development to young people, particularly girls and people with disabilities. This is the goal of the Youth Art Culture Sport and Memory (JACSM) association of Cameroon, which set up the education and socio-professional inclusion center of the Essos Bilingue high school, a secondary school, located in the 5th borough of the city of Yaoundé. The center began its activities on February 12, 2025 in line with the celebration of National Youth Day.

“The objective of this program is precisely to lift vulnerable people out of their precariousness in order to give them hope. We are taking advantage of this project to provide public spaces with development and sports areas. Once these arrangements are made, vulnerable people are trained in these spaces.  ”

Celine Ndoungo, President of JACSMCameroon

Following the launch of the education center, the reception of the lighting work for the sports facilities of this educational establishment was held, in particular the basketball and football field of the Lycée Bilingue d’Essos. Vulnerable people who have been identified and selected for the socio-professional integration program are trained in this space. The final beneficiaries are supported for their personal development and coached to join businesses or become entrepreneurs.

“With my direct final beneficiaries, there will be a mission to monitor the evaluation of their socio-professional training, to support them in their professional projects, to ensure at the end of nine months, that they are on the way to this integration and then able to coordinate for all the sites, this

professional projects which are carried out in order to evaluate all this at the end of the first year, since we must go towards the second year with a new batch of 125 people”.
