In Senegal, the « And Bessal Sénégal coalition », led by Abdoulaye Sylla, closed its campaign on November 15, 2024 for the early legislative elections with a vibrant rally in the Dakar suburb of Keur Massar. This event, marked by a strong mobilization of militants and supporters, was an opportunity for the coalition leader to launch a call for peace, serenity and hope, while addressing strong messages to the population, in particular the local youth.

Another highlight of the meeting was Abdoulaye Sylla’s appeal to the youth of Keur Massar. Stressing the importance of self-employment and determination, he encouraged young people not to wait passively for opportunities, but to take their destiny into their own hands.

To succeed, you have to employ yourself, forge your own path and dare to take action. I’ve never given out my CV to get a job, because it’s ambition and determination that open doors.

Barthelemy Dias , Head of the national list of the And Bessal Sénégal coalition

This appeal resonates particularly in a context where many young people in the region and throughout the country are finding it difficult to access employment and training. In the second quarter of 2024, the expanded unemployment rate reached 21.6%, up from 18.6% in the same period of 2023, according to ANSD.
