Central African Republic – presidential election : Archange Touadéra wins with 76.15% of the vote

In the Central African Republic, the National Electoral Authority officially published the results of the presidential election held on 28 December 2025 on 6 January 2026. This eagerly awaited announcement brings the electoral process to a close. Incumbent President Faustin Archange Touadéra was declared the winner in the first round.

In a solemn session held at the headquarters of the National Elections Authority (ANE), the members of the institution finalized the deliberation of the results from the presidential election of 28 December 2025. Delivering the ANE’s decision this Monday, 5 January, President Barrister Mathias Barthélemy Morouba officially declared the candidate of the United Hearts Movement (MCU), Faustin Archange Touadéra, as the winner.

“As a consequence, the National Elections Authority decides: the provisional results of the presidential election of 28 December 2025 are published in accordance with the announced document. In line with the provisions of Article 117 of the Electoral Code, Mr Faustin Archange Touadéra, having obtained the majority of validly cast votes in the first round, with 894,556 votes, representing 76.15%, is hereby declared elected President of the Central African Republic.”

With this proclamation, the ANE officially brings the electoral phase to an end. A major milestone for the country, closely followed by the population and international partners. Shortly after the announcement of the results, the declared president-elect, Faustin Archange Touadéra, addressed the nation. He reaffirmed his political approach based on dialogue, reconciliation and national reconstruction.

“Our country has suffered too much. It needs all its sons and daughters. From the very beginning, I have pursued a policy of an outstretched hand, a policy of dialogue. I have extended my hand to armed groups and I will continue to do so, because peace progresses through this willingness to engage in dialogue. Central Africans placed their trust in me on 28 December. I will continue this policy of openness, working with all compatriots who so wish, in respect of everyone’s choices, for the reconstruction of our country.”

President Faustin Archange Touadéra was facing six other candidates in this election. Coming second according to the provisional results, Anicet Georges Dologuélé obtained 14.66% of the vote. In a country marked by years of crisis, the key challenge in the post-election period now lies in consolidating peace, national cohesion and democratic institutions.
