In Anjouan, the agricultural fair held on 4 March 2026 served as a showcase for economic resilience initiatives supported by the Mayendeleyo project, a component of the Resilient and Shock-Responsive Social Safety Nets Project (PFSS-RRC). Financed with 30 million dollars by the World Bank, the programme supports 40,010 vulnerable households across nearly 196 villages on the islands of Grande Comore, Anjouan and Mohéli.

Ibrahim Ahamada, PFSS Project Coordinator

The success of these income-generating activities was on display at the fair, where producers and artisans showcased their results. Additionally, the UHIFADHWI mechanism, which utilizes a « cash for resilient work » strategy for community and environmental projects, involves 5,967 participants.
Afterwards, the project will come to an end. But before it does, we will try to bring them together into associations so that they can continue this initiative.
