Central African Republic – President Touadéra’s inauguration: challenges and opportunities under the 7th Republic

On March 30, 2026, the Central African Republic officially enters the 7th Republic. Between the shift to a seven-year term and the promise of economic sovereignty, this new social contract stemming from the 2023 Constitution places citizens at the heart of national priorities.

This marks a historic mile-stone for the Central African Republic, officially entering a seven-year term under the 7th Republic on March 30, 2026. The goal is clear: to firmly stabilize the country’s institutions and move beyond recurring electoral crises. One of the main challenges will be to turn this extended political mandate into lasting peace across the nation.

The Central African Republic must move toward sustainable development. President Touadéra is appreciated by many Central Africans; he is our president, and some even see him as a patriarch. Personally, I support the current 7th Republic, but today, what we really want is to see more goods and development reach the country.

Citizens must at least have access to food and healthcare, because development is not possible without these essential needs.

Economic sovereignty takes center stage in this new phase. According to the 2023 Constitution, gold and diamonds now belong exclusively to the people. For the residents of Bangui, this is a huge opportunity: to finally transform the country’s natural wealth into roads, electricity, clean water, and improved access to healthcare and education.

While improving access to healthcare and education, we also need proper health and educational infrastructure. This is what we expect from the 7th Republic. Our country must develop. Our resources should benefit Central Africans. Gold, diamonds, uranium, and oil are national assets that must first serve the people.

On the social front, national preference is emphasized. The slogan “Central Africans First” for jobs and commerce sends a clear message to the youth, encouraging local entrepreneurship. The success of this mandate will depend on turning these constitutional promises into real opportunities that improve the lives of every Central African household.
