Gabon : 40% of Food Supplies Imported Each Year

Meeting on April 9, 2026, in Abidjan during the 8th Annual Conference of the International Network of Francophone Investment Promotion Agencies (RIAFPI), Gabon’s National Investment Promotion Agency (ANPI-Gabon) called for faster capital mobilization for the agri-food sector. The challenge is critical: Africa still imports nearly 40% of its food needs, at an annual cost exceeding $50 billion, despite holding 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land. Meanwhile, Gabon aims to reduce its food imports by 50%, which currently cost the country around CFA550 billion each year.
