Africa : AFCON 2027 Host Countries Urged to Deliver Stadiums on Time

On April 14, 2026, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) urged Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — the host countries of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) — to speed up the development of their sports infrastructure. While the body has not officially raised alarm over the tournament scheduled for August 2027, the report highlights several delays and shortcomings in ongoing construction projects, particularly regarding stadiums and hospitality facilities. Among the sites concerned is Nairobi’s Talanta Stadium, identified as one of Kenya’s flagship projects for the competition. CAF stressed the need to address the identified gaps swiftly in order to meet the deadlines ahead of the tournament.
