Namibia : partnership with the DRC revived after 27 years

Namibia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have strengthened their defense cooperation following a meeting held on April 30, 2026, in Windhoek between the two countries’ defense ministers. The partnership focuses on military training, expertise sharing, and logistical support. This renewed collaboration comes amid a tense security context in Africa, particularly in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where conflicts persist despite regional diplomatic efforts. A member of the Southern African Development Community, Namibia aims to reinforce its role in regional stability, building on a longstanding military relationship with the DRC dating back to the conflicts of the late 1990s.
