DR Congo : small-scale trade now banned for foreigners

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, authorities have decided to reserve small-scale and retail trade exclusively for national operators, reactivating existing regulations and ending exemptions previously granted to foreigners. The measure, aimed at protecting local traders and restructuring the sector, is part of a broader policy of “Congolisation” of the economy and includes an adjustment period for affected operators.
