Cameroon : Regional development at the heart of EFRACAM

Harnessing the expertise of Cameroonian elected representatives from the diaspora to promote the sustainable development of local areas. This is the aim of the first conference organised by the Association of Elected Representatives and Professionals in France of Cameroonian Origin or Nationality (EFRACAM), to be held in Cameroon from 8 to 12 July 2026. Over the course of five days, the conference will bring together local elected representatives, institutional leaders, business leaders and partners to discuss concrete cooperation projects.

Placed under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, the first Conference of the Association of French Elected Officials and Professionals of Cameroonian Origin or Nationality (EFRACAM) takes in Yaoundé from 8 to 12 July 2026. Under the theme « The Contribution of Diaspora Elected Officials to the Sustainable Development of Local Territories », Cameroonian elected officials from France, local authorities, public administrations, academics and development partners are sharing their experiences to identify solutions tailored to the needs of local councils.

« The first expectation is, above all, to mobilise local authorities and our fellow elected officials to jointly develop, with EFRACAM, a number of projects that address the essential needs of our communities. »

Pierre De Gaétan Njikam Mouliom, President of EFRACAM – Cameroon

Discussions are focusing on local governance, decentralised cooperation, the economic attractiveness of local territories, investment, innovation, training and the mobilisation of diaspora expertise. Panel discussions, B2B meetings and field visits are expected to lead to structured partnerships that will create economic opportunities and strengthen the capacities of local authorities.

« At the heart of the EFRACAM delegation are business leaders, including representatives from the Port of Bordeaux, which will establish lasting partnerships with the Ports of Douala and Kribi. »

Pierre De Gaétan Njikam Mouliom, President of EFRACAM – Cameroon

Established in 2015, EFRACAM brings together more than one hundred Cameroonian elected officials, executives and professionals based in France to pool the expertise of the diaspora and turn it into a driver of local development. After more than eight years of initiatives, these first Conference sessions mark a new stage in cooperation between the diaspora, local authorities and institutional partners, for the benefit of local communities.
