Libya: UN Security Council supports agreement to hold elections

The UN Security Council has welcomed the agreement reached on August 30 between Libya’s main stakeholders to break the electoral deadlock. The agreement provides, among other measures, for the restructuring of the High National Elections Commission and the revision of the legal framework governing presidential and parliamentary elections, which are to be held within two years under the auspices of a unified government.
