Mali’s Foreign Minister, Abdoulaye Diop, reaffirmed on September 24, 2026, in New York, Bamako’s support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara, describing it as a “serious and credible” basis for resolving the dispute. On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, he also welcomed Security Council Resolution 2797 and highlighted the strong economic, historical and human ties between Mali and Morocco.
