Africa : 25 billion dollars pipeline to be realized by December 2024

The final investment decision (FID) on the planned USD 25 billion Nigeria-Morocco pipeline linking North and West Africa is envisaged to be reached by December 2024.While the project agreement was signed in 2017, a memorandum of understanding was signed in September 2022 merging the West Africa gas pipeline extension project of ECOWAS and the Nigeria-Morocco pipeline. The pipeline is to pass through 13 African countries with a transport capacity of  three billion cubic feet per day.

The 25 billion dollars Nigeria-Morocco gas  Pipeline is envisaged to be accomplished  by December 2024, a big deal for the African continent. Initiated in 2016 by King Mohammed VI and former president of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari, the pipeline which is expected to pass across 13 African Countries is to have a gas transport capacity of three billion cubic feet per day, according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Co. Ltd (NNPC).

We see clear opportunities that gas creates. Today we are building a number of trunk lines and other gas infrastructure that will supply gas to a number of gas networks.

The 5,600 kilometers Nigeria-Morocco gas Pipeline is forecasted to shape Africa’s energy landscape. According to Authorities it  will also become a major supplier of gas to Europe. This initiative gains prominence and admits the Russian-Ukraine crisis showcasing  its massive revenue.

The objective of this project is not just to transport gas only,  but also to offer some opportunities for the development of all these countries between Nigeria and Morocco.

As Africa looks forward to a cleaner energy future, the Nigerian-Morocco pipeline is a big step forward. The pipeline signed in 2017 will help drive the monetization of Nigeria’s gas resources, maintain Nigerian National Petroleum Co. Ltd’s energy leadership in Africa and promote economic and regional cooperation among African Countries
