The Algerian A’ football team drew 1-1 against Guinea on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, during the 4th day of the 2024 CHAN African Nations Championship. The Guineans took the lead against the course of the game in the 62nd minute by Ismaël Camara of Horoya AC, taking advantage of an error by the Algerian defense. Despite constant domination, Madjid Bougherra’s players were unable to find the solution before the entrance of Sofiane Bayazid (MC Alger), who equalized in the 88th minute. For the Algerian coach, this result is an « electric shock » that is beneficial for his team.

« It’s true that compared to the first two matches, there was a slight downturn, as you put it. But I have prepared, we are prepared for this, that’s what I tell the players. Each match is difficult, each match has its own specificities, there is no easy match, and this competition is going to be tough. To qualify for the end, each round is even harder, but I’m not worried because we haven’t always lost. I think it’s time to wake up. So it can be a shock for them to understand that they need to raise the level, especially when it comes to being killers. »

This 0-0 draw keeps Algeria in second place in Group C with 5 points, behind Uganda, which has 6. While Guinea has already been eliminated, the Algerians are required to win their final match against Niger, the last team in the group, in order to guarantee their advancement in the tournament.

« In all the games we’ve played, the positive thing is that everything depends on us in the sense that if we finish, if we win the game, we can only be positive in comfort, but today that wasn’t the case. It’s football, next game, we have to prove it. »
