The Farewell Conference and Investiture Ceremony will celebrate his decade-long leadership that has redefined Afreximbank’s role in advancing intra-African trade and economic resilience.
Here at the St. Regis Al Masa Convention Centre in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, all eyes are on the African Export-Import Bank from 24 to 25 October 2025.
The institution is honouring one of Africa’s most transformative financial leaders, Professor Benedict Oramah, while welcoming Dr George Elombi. The Afreximbank Farewell Conference and Investiture Ceremony marks the close of a decade that has redefined the Bank’s role in promoting intra-African trade, financial resilience, and continental integration.
Under Professor Oramah’s visionary leadership, Afreximbank recorded remarkable results approving US $22 billion in financing in 2024, disbursing US $18.7 billion, and reporting a net profit of US $973.5 million. His tenure also gave rise to flagship initiatives such as the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) and strong support for the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The two-day event will bring together African heads of state, ministers, policymakers, and international partners, a testament to Afreximbank’s pivotal role in driving Africa’s transformation agenda. As Afreximbank turns a new page under Dr Elombi’s stewardship, this moment stands as more than a leadership transition.
