Seventy years after the publication of the founding document of the Algerian Republic, the proclamation of 1 November 1954, Algeria remains attached to its spirit of sovereignty and sharing. During a dinner organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Liberation Revolution. This year’s edition was held under the slogan ‘Glorious November, Loyalty and Renewal’.It was an occasion for Boukemmache Abdallah, Algeria’s Ambassador to Cameroon, to pay tribute to the diplomatic relations between the two nations, which have been deeply consolidated since 2021.
This year’s celebration of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Liberation Revolution, under the slogan ‘Glorious November, Loyalty and Renewal’, was an opportunity for Boukemmache Abdallah, Algeria’s Ambassador to Cameroon, to salute the efforts that have made it possible to further consolidate, in 2021, the relations that have existed between Algeria and Cameroon since 1974. In the course of 2023 alone, numerous agreements were signed between the two nations. This includes the agreement on the creation of the ‘Algeria-Cameroon’ parliamentary friendship group, with the aim of developing bilateral cooperation relations through the creation of new contact mechanisms and the encouragement of multidimensional parliamentary exchanges.
“Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, on a bilateral level, Algerian-Cameroonian relations have always been marked by solidarity, fraternity, respect and mutual consideration. Over the past three years, our cooperation has achieved substantial success. The momentum generated during this period has enriched the legal framework governing both political dialogue and technical cooperation’.”

During the celebrations, which were attended by members of the Cameroonian government and other diplomatic representations, the Algerian ambassador did not fail to point out that as part of the promotion of a prosperous business climate, an airline service from Algiers to Yaoundé should be opened in the coming months to reinforce the lines in Douala .
“Our two countries have signed this most important agreement, one of the latest in the field of transport, which deserves particular attention. An Algiers-Douala air service was launched in October 2023, with three flights a week, and an extension to Yaoundé is planned for the coming months, helping to significantly increase trade between the two countries.”

On the trade front, according to official figures, Algeria was the leading customer for Cameroonian goods in North Africa in 2022. Since then, as part of the Continental Free Trade Area, Cameroon exported its first cargo of goods to Algiers on 16 July 2023.
