Cooperation between Cameroon and Expertise France was the focus of discussions on Friday 18 September at the Global Gateway Interministerial Committee. The agency’s Director-General, Jérémie Pellet, who was on a working visit to Cameroon, took part in this review, which focused on achievements, government priorities and prospects for cooperation with the European Union.
Orienting and accelerating development projects to deliver a direct social impact on the population was the aim of discussions held in Yaoundé this Friday, 18 September 2026, as part of the Global Gateway Committee meeting. Chaired by Alamine Ousmane Mey, Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, the meeting provided an opportunity to review several areas of intervention by Expertise France, including governance, urban development and waste management

This cooperation also has a regional dimension. From Yaoundé, Expertise France notably manages the Central Africa hub of SecFin Africa, a €22 million programme covering sub-Saharan Africa. The indicative regional portfolio stands at €53 million, with interventions also focusing on the blue economy, resource mobilisation and transport corridors

The meeting now paves the way for preparations for the European financial programming for 2028–2034 and the next Global Gateway cycle in Cameroon. The challenge is to better align national priorities, European funding and technical expertise. This dynamic is expected to build on the initiatives already underway in Cameroon and strengthen the country’s role as a hub for cooperation in Central Africa.
