Cameroon – 53rd Unity Day : Military advocates peace with Nation

On 20 May 2025, Cameroon celebrates its 53rd Unity Day. It is on this date that Cameroon celebrates not its independence, but the reunification of the English-speaking and French-speaking parts of the country, both formerly under British and French influence. A desire for unity that has often been tested over the course of history and which, this year once again, is fuelled by various tensions, particularly on the political front.

Cameroon is celebrating today  its 53rd edition of national unity under the then “ Army and Nation United for a Cameroon turned towards peace and prosperity. To commemorate this day , the head of state Paul Biya is presiding over the civil and military parade at the 20th May boulevard in Yaoundé . A moment of honor for all Cameroonians pleading for peace and unity . 

The military and security forces all converge in advocating for peace and prosperity. With a massive display of martial techniques and defense tools , these soldiers solemnly call for reconciliation with the people . Cameroon, which has been plagued in recent years with security crises, is today calling for new beginnings . A responsibility beared by both civilians and military .To witness this day, governmental , diplomatic and religious bodies stood up to the Cameroon flag as a symbol of hope for the Nation. 

Cameroon is a land of promise and glory and has on this day placed another stamp to mark its devotedness in building togetherness
