Cameroon : 8,047 tonnes of sugar exported in 2025

In 2025, Cameroon exported 8,047 tonnes of sugar, compared to 512 tonnes in 2024, representing a 429% increase, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS). This surge comes despite a structural deficit, with production estimated between 120,000 and 160,000 tonnes against a demand of around 300,000 tonnes. Despite tensions on the domestic market, these exports are reportedly driven by strategic trade arbitrage toward more profitable neighboring markets within the CEMAC zone and Nigeria, where profit margins are considered higher for operators.
