Cameroon celebrates this Tuesday, May 20, the 54th edition of National Unity Day, under the theme “National unity, a pillar of our defense and the foundation of Cameroon’s development.” In Yaoundé, President Paul Biya is expected to preside over the traditional civil and military parade on the 20 May Boulevard. This commemoration recalls the 1972 Cameroonian referendum, which led to the creation of a unitary state following the 1961 reunification.
