The Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts (CCIMA) celebrated this Monday, June 2, 2025, in Douala, the solemn installation ceremony of its new president. This ceremony took place in an atmosphere marked by solemnity and optimism for the future of the Cameroonian private sector. “At this time when Cameroon is expanding and becoming more and more of a mining nation, it is a crucial moment for the president of the chamber of commerce to assume his role in guiding and ensuring that the industries and all the policies implemented by the head of state are implemented.”

Christophe Eken is a major figure in the Cameroonian and French-speaking economic landscape. A trained engineer, seasoned entrepreneur, and public figure, he has served as President of the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Crafts (CCIMA) since 2008. Since 2008, Christophe Eken has initiated several projects aimed at boosting the Cameroonian private sector, such as promoting SMEs and entrepreneurship by supporting young entrepreneurs, particularly Cameroonian startups. Under his leadership, the CCIMA has undertaken the digitization of several services, thus facilitating companies’ access to economic information, administrative procedures, and business opportunities.

“During this year, we will have a plenary assembly to develop the budget and the vision.”

It should be noted that the CCIMA acts as a conduit between the private business community and public authorities in matters of consultation and representation. The chamber is also responsible for supervising and promoting businesses, issuing certificates of origin, consular registration certificates, and various commercial accreditation letters abroad. Although Christophe Eken has already defined the trajectory that this new mandate will take, he will also have to ensure that the CCIMA contributes to the creation of a business climate that propels the country and contributes to its economic growth.
