Cameroon : First Sky Awards to be held in June 2025

From 19 to 21 June 2025 in Yaoundé, Cameroon will be hosting the very first edition of the SKY AWARDS, an international trade fair on the theme of ‘Craftsmanship and interior design: a timeless alliance’. An initiative of the government under the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (MINPMEESA), this event aims to showcase African talent in the fields of interior architecture, art, design and handicrafts.

The first edition of the Sky Awards will take place from 19 to 21 June 2025 on the esplanade of the Palais polyvalent des sports in Yaoundé, Cameroon. This international event, which promotes interior architecture, crafts, art and design, is under the patronage of the Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Crafts, Achille Bassilekin III.

The aim is for Yaounde to serve as the starting point for this pan-African event, the second of which will be held in Nigeria and then in other countries. It’s a continental movement to promote crafts.

The show aims to create a platform for creative professionals to express themselves and raise their profile, while stimulating exchanges, business opportunities and technological innovation in the sector. Round tables, master classes, exhibitions, conferences, B2B meetings and awards ceremonies will punctuate the three days of activities.

We have 5 major events, the exhibition, which is a showcase for crafts, interior architecture, art and design. We have an awards ceremony because we felt it was time to reward our craftspeople who work day and night to produce such special works.

Through the SKY AWARDS, Cameroon is positioning itself as a centre of excellence in the African creative industries landscape, an area now recognised by UNESCO as a major lever for inclusive growth.
