The year 2023 brought with it a host of supply and security challenges for Cameroon. On January 5, 2024, at the ceremony of wishes presentation at Unity Palace, Head of State Paul Biya reiterated his government’s determination to meet the needs of the population by addressing the challenges of infrastructure and service provision.
In his end-of-year address to the nation, President Paul BIYA congratulated Cameroonians for their resilience towards the major challenges they faced in 2023, including insecurity in the regions, inflation caused by external shocks and climate change, which has affected agricultural yields. Also, he announced the implementation of a number of water and electricity supply projects for 2024. On January 5, 2024, at the wishing presentation ceremony at Unity Palace, the Cameroonian government, on the instructions of the Head of State, expressed its determination to reduce the energy deficit and improve living conditions for the population. This will be achieved by improving the quality of health services, promoting universal health coverage and ensuring the availability of petroleum products.
The President of the Republic has insisted that we must ensure that the financing of universal health coverage is perennial, so that we don’t come to a standstill because of non-reimbursement of healthcare costs. So for 2024, we’re going to focus on that.

2024 has been declared the year of completion and commissioning of numerous infrastructural projects. In partnership with the EU, AFD, GIZ and KFD, we’re going to develop the heart of Yaoundé so that pedestrians can take advantage of the road, avoiding traffic jams by reorganising the structure of the road.
