President of the UBA banking group, Tony Elumelu, was received in audience on February 7, 2022 by the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency of Cameroon, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh. The said audience was focused on possibilities of reinforcing Cameroon’s attractiveness and in a meantime, to confirm Tony Elumelu’s foundation engagement in empowering young Cameroonian entrepreneurs.
Nigerian business tycoon Tony Elumelu, who is by the way, the president of the pan african UBA banking group expressed his will to promote the attractiveness of Cameroon. This was part of the discussions held between the Minister of state, Secretary general at the présidency of Cameroon, Ferdinand Ngoh ngoh and the renowned businessman. During the audience that took place at the presidency of Cameroon, both parties shared common views. Tony Elumelu equally seized this occasion to highlight his vision and perspectives as far as the future of his subsidiary, the United bank of africa is concerned. The need to empower young entrepreneurs in Cameroon was reaffirmed by Tony Elumelu.
In 2021, more than 213 Cameroonians benefited from funding from the Tony Elumelu foundation. This funding worth 5000 Dollars was disbursed to more than 675 Cameroonian entrepreneurs, selected as beneficiaries of this programme. The Nigerian billionaire took opportunity of the meeting in order to share with his hosts the support that his subsidiary, the united bank of africa is ready to grant to different developpement projects initiated in Cameroon. He recalled the support already brought by his subsidiary, in building some infrastructures used during the Africa cup of nation.
Tony Elumelu praised Cameroon’s Head of state,Paul Biya for the successful organization of the recently held Africa Cup of nations. The positive records of the event according to Mr Elumelu features amongst reasons that prompt him to invest further in Cameroon.
