Cameroun : sworn-in, President Paul Biya calls for unity


On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Paul Biya was sworn in for an eighth term as President of Cameroon during a solemn ceremony at the National Assembly Palace. In a speech focused on peace, security, and development, the Head of State outlined his vision for an emerging Cameroon by 2035, while highlighting the central role of youth and women in the country’s future.

With this solemn formula, Cameroonian President Paul Biya officially took the oath of office on Thursday, November 6, 2025, beginning his eighth term as Head of State. The ceremony at the National Assembly Palace brought together parliamentarians, government officials, diplomats, and representatives of civil society. In his address, the President reaffirmed his determination to lead Cameroon toward stability and progress, pledging to serve all Cameroonian citizens.

I will spare no effort to continue to be worthy of this trust, whatever the circumstances, whatever the difficulties, obstacles, or challenges may be. This is the meaning of the oath I have just taken before the Cameroonian people whom you represent.

For this new seven-year term, marked by great hopes , President Paul Biya emphasized the preservation of peace, security, and national unity. He announced the continuation of efforts to restore stability in crisis-affected regions, strengthen the fight against crime, and support economic development, particularly through improvements in infrastructure and the purchasing power of Cameroonians.

Cameroonians at home and in the diaspora, on this day as I begin a new term through the will of God and the sovereign people of Cameroon, I wish to extend my hand to each and every one of you. Together, we must lay the foundations for an even more promising future for our dear and beautiful country, especially for our youth. We have indeed accomplished much, but we still have so much more to achieve together  for ourselves, and for future generations. I therefore call for a sacred union. Join me so that together, in peace and harmony, we may rise to meet the tremendous challenges facing our nation.

Winner of the October 12 presidential election with 53.66% of the vote, President Paul Biya also highlighted the importance of youth and women, regarded as key drivers of the country’s future. His vision of an emerging Cameroon by 2035 is based on inclusive and sustainable development. In the streets, citizens mobilized to celebrate the Head of State, reflecting the symbolic significance of this inauguration.
