Chad : 20-year prison sentence upheld for Succès Masra.

On May 21, 2026, the Supreme Court upheld the final conviction of opposition leader and former Prime Minister Succès Masra, sentencing him to 20 years in prison. Found guilty of murder, complicity, incitement to hatred and criminal association in connection with the Mandakao killings, the leader of The Transformers party saw his appeal in cassation rejected. Detained since his conviction in August 2025, he can now only hope for a presidential pardon, while his party and several human rights organizations denounce what they describe as a political trial.
