In the landscape of the global music industry, a transformation has taken place in recent years, characterised by the ascendancy of the African music market as various African nations amplify their distinctive musical offerings. Recent years have witnessed a metamorphosis in the Cameroonian music sector, propelled by technological innovations, evolving consumer preferences and a growing international appetite for diverse sonic experiences. The second of CIMFEST held in Buea from the 15th to the 18th of november 2023 connected Cameroonian artists, created platforms for international collaborations, underground talents, and gave value to educational and economic growth through entertainment and culture.
Cameroonian music has always been a showcase of diverse ethnic and global influences, creating a unique blend of musical styles that have shaped the country’s cultural identity and left an indelible mark on the global music scene. The recent international success of Libianca’s single « People » has once again demonstrated Cameroon’s potential to captivate audiences the world over. To foster the music industry in Cameroon, The second edition of the Cameroon international music festival held in Buea from the 15th to the 18th of November 2023 developed a range of new innovations such as the Hackerthon, a series of workshops on how to make the creative industry’s digital gains profitable.
I had to go back to them and fight again and again to explain to them that we could make it and I was amazed yesterday. I was blown out. Actually when the concert started I was not there, I was occupied with other functions. So this one was very remarkable

However, despite its cultural landscape and musical traditions, the story of Cameroon’s music industry is one of untapped potential and unexplored horizons which needs to be taken beyond boundaries.
This is a wonderful opportunity for us here in Buea because it promotes both musical tourism as you call it and tourism in general. Many people will come to Buea for the very first time and they will understand the hospitality. We are very proud of the authors of this festival. They have thought really really wise. That is why I came out myself.
