In Côte d’Ivoire, the Constitutional Council officially published on August 29, 2025, the provisional list of candidates for the presidential election scheduled for October 25. In total, 60 applicants were selected, including major figures of the Ivorian political scene, notably former president Laurent Gbagbo of the PPA-CI, Simone Ehivet of the MGC, Tidjane Thiam of the PDCI-RDA, Pascal Affi Nguessan of the FPI, Jean Louis Billon of the CODE, as well as the outgoing president Alassane Ouattara of the RHDP.
Where Ivorians are waiting for the constitutional council, what crystallizes attention is the final list. On the evening of September 10, will opposition heavyweights such as former head of state Laurent Gbagbo and Tidjane Thiam of the PDCI-RDA see their candidacies accepted.

In accordance with Article 56 of the electoral code, a period for contestation is now open. Candidates, as well as the parties or political groups supporting them, have until September 1 at 6 p.m. to submit their complaints to the General Secretariat of the Constitutional Council. Appeals must be submitted in ten original copies and entered in the register provided for this purpose.
Because these two candidates, it is worth recalling, submitted their files despite being removed from the electoral lists, and it is their supporters who loudly affirm that they meet all the conditions to be eligible for this election.

Of the 60 selected candidates, more than 30 are running as independents. The presence of several young people under 40 is also noted, a sign of generational renewal that could influence this presidential election.
