On an official visit to Yaounde from November 18 to 19, 2025, the Vice President of Equatorial Guinea held multiple meetings with senior Cameroonian officials. The visit was marked by significant announcements in defense, trade, and telecommunications, and, above all, it opened new opportunities for Cameroonian businesses.
On the sidelines of his official visit to Cameroon, the Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, held several working sessions on Wednesday, November 19, with key members of the Cameroonian government. The goal: to give new momentum to relations between the two Central African countries
I feel as if I were in Equatorial Guinea. Cameroon is our home. We are here to strengthen bilateral cooperation between our two countries.

At the Ministry of Defense, discussions focused on security in the Gulf of Guinea and cooperation around the transboundary Yoyo-Yolanda gas field. Both countries aim to strengthen their joint mechanisms to better protect their strategic interests. In the telecommunications sector, the Vice President met with Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng. Key topics included improving the Ceiba submarine cable, crucial for high-speed internet access between the two countries, and implementing new measures to develop digital infrastructure in the subregion. On the commercial front, the Vice President reiterated his country’s willingness to further open its market to Cameroonian businesses. He also announced a future visit to Malabo by a group of Cameroonian economic operators to identify obstacles and stimulate bilateral investments.
We believe that Cameroon can contribute much more than it currently does to Equatorial Guinea. There are very few Cameroonian companies currently in Equatorial Guinea. Very few. And I want to break this barrier, to open the door, to attract more Cameroonian investors to Equatorial Guinea.

Beyond the technical aspects, the visit is also symbolic. The Vice President took the opportunity to congratulate the Cameroonian Head of State on his election to a new term and to emphasize the historical closeness between the two nations. For both Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon, this diplomatic engagement marks an important step toward strengthened cooperation in the agricultural, mining, tourism, and energy sectors.
