Gabon reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s autonomy initiative before the United Nations, describing it as a serious and credible basis for a negotiated solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. Libreville also welcomed UN Security Council Resolution 2797 and the socio-economic progress achieved in the southern provinces.
