Gabon – Tony Elumelu support for development : CFAF 4.536 billion for 293 projects

Gabon’s transitional President, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, received a delegation led by Tony Elumelu, Chairman and CEO of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), on 25 February 2025. In his statement, the Nigerian entrepreneur expressed his determination to support the Gabonese government in the implementation of various economic and infrastructure projects, in line with the Head of State’s development vision. In addition, He also encourages young Gabonese entrepreneurs to apply to the TEF’s entrepreneurship programme (TEF2024) and receive a non-refundable start-up grant of $5,000.

On 25 February 2025, Gabon’s transitional President, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, received a delegation led by Nigerian businessman Tony Elumelu, Chairman and CEO of the United Bank for Africa (UBA). With more than CFAF 4,536 billion needed to finance 293 development projects over the period 2024-2026 as part of the National Transition Development Plan, according to official figures, Tony Elumelu, in his statement, expressed his willingness to support the Gabonese government in implementing various economic and infrastructure projects, in line with the Head of State’s development vision.

“His Excellency the President was kind enough to share with me his plans for the young people of Gabon: to create jobs and develop the economy. He asked for my support and assistance. I expressed my commitment and promised him that our UBA group would support infrastructure development projects in Gabon”.

Through his Tony Elumelu Foundation, which has given over 2.5 million young Africans access to education through its digital hub and provided over $100 million in direct funding to more than 21,000 young Africans, the entrepreneur and philanthropist aims to promote innovation and financial independence among Gabon’s youth by providing funds to the country’s young entrepreneurs.  He also encourages young Gabonese entrepreneurs to apply to the TEF’s entrepreneurship programme (TEF2024) and receive a non-refundable start-up grant of $5,000.
