Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has granted a presidential pardon to 863 convicted individuals, including 819 first-time offenders who were released directly. The measure, taken in accordance with the Constitution, also applies to elderly or seriously ill inmates and is part of the commemorations marking Ghana’s 70th anniversary of independence.
