Guinea-Bissau’s main opposition leader, Domingos Simões Pereira, has been detained by a military court as part of an investigation into alleged coup attempts and economic crimes. The former prime minister and PAIGC leader denies the charges through his lawyers, who describe the proceedings as unlawful and politically motivated, claiming they are intended to sideline him ahead of the next presidential election.
