As part of a reform aimed both at reducing public spending and improving efficiency in the sector, Libya’s Government of National Unity decided on April 23, 2026, to dissolve three health-related entities: the Health System Development Center, the General Health Council, and the Health Facilities Accreditation Center. This restructuring aims to eliminate administrative overlaps and strengthen oversight. It involves transferring the responsibilities and assets of these bodies to the Ministry of Health, led by Mohammed Al-Ghuj. The ultimate goal of this reorganization is to improve the quality of healthcare services and ensure better management of human resources.
