The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of Madagascar has announced the holding of a referendum in June 2027, followed by the presidential election in October. These votes are part of a revision of the electoral register, scheduled to begin at the end of next June and spread over eleven months until April 2027, in order to ensure reliable voter lists. The operation, deemed essential for the transparency of the electoral process, will require a significant logistical setup. The referendum will notably focus on the establishment of the Fifth Republic.
