On April 23, 2026, during Expo Mauritanie 2026 in Nouakchott, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani highlighted the positive momentum of the national industrial sector and its promising prospects. He noted that the private sector is increasingly embracing the reforms that have been implemented. However, the President identified the energy deficit as the main obstacle to overcome. To address this challenge, the Mauritanian government is actively financing electricity production projects totaling nearly 300 MW, along with an ambitious energy transmission project valued at over USD 800 million. He concluded by reaffirming the government’s unwavering support for industrial growth and the development of the private sector.
