Morocco : 3 conventions signed in Dakhla to promote health sciences

On 23 November 2024, three Memoranda of Understanding were signed in Dakhla, Morocco, between the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation. These agreements, valid for a period of five (5) years, aim to promote scientific research and innovation, strengthen South-South cooperation and develop a strategic partnership between public and private stakeholders, universities and research centres to stimulate innovation in the health sector.

In order to promote scientific research and innovation, strengthen South-South cooperation and develop a strategic partnership between public and private stakeholders, universities and research centres to stimulate innovation in the health sector, three agreements were signed between the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.

This initiative aims to contribute to the acceleration of African sovereignty in the field of health. This initiative is part of the implementation of the vision of His Majesty King Mohamed VI, may God assist him, for a solidarity cooperation promoting sustainable growth of the continent.

According to scientists and researchers, the African Academy of Health Sciences (AAHS) in Dakhla is a strategic project of King Mohammed VI in his vision of promoting regional integration on the continent, as the newly inaugurated university seeks to offer African students the opportunity to continue their studies in Morocco and African researchers the opportunity to carry out their research projects in the Kingdom.

Africans have so many competent both men and women in health sciences in Africa that if we brought them together in the city of Dakhla through this new Mohammed VI Academy of Health Sciences which will bring together the forces, the skills, what they can do and promote as research, train people, train doctors, train nurses to better help Africans to better access better health care because we want to have the best system for Africans but by Africans.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed on 23 November 2024 in Dakhla,  to strengthen Morocco’s relations with other African countries and beyond the continent is effective for a period of five (5) years.
