Morocco : Dakhla University, a catalyst for health sciences

Dedicated to promoting partnerships, research and development in the health sciences in Africa, the  African Academy of Health Sciences (AAHS) in Dakhla is a strategic initiative in King Mohammed VI’s pan-African vision. Covering 47 hectares and hosting 3,000 students in the fields of human, animal and environmental health, the AAHS aims to become a centre for health development in Africa, promoting scientific innovation and the organisation of symposia and congresses to contribute to the sustainable improvement of African health systems.

One of the strategic projects in His Majesty the King of Morocco’s pan-African vision for advancing healthcare in Africa is the African Academy of Health Sciences in Dakhla (AAHS), inaugurated on 23 November 2024. Managed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, the institution is dedicated to promoting partnerships, research, education and innovation in the health and healthcare sciences in Africa.

These three objectives have their place as the main axes of this Academy and it will be an establishment, a flagship organization on an African scale to play a very important role in terms of equity of health care within Africa.

Samir Kaddar, President of C3M

Spanning 47 hectares and receiving 3,000 students, the AAHS aims to promote excellence by creating a platform for exchange and collaboration, contextualising results and adapting recommendations to African realities.

We already have contacts within African countries but today I am very happy because it is done in a well-structured organization and we are going from structuring to structuring and all this is within the framework of this equity to put the African citizen at the heart of our concerns on the one hand and on the other hand to precisely guarantee African health sovereignty.

Samir Kaddar, President of C3M

The Academy’s fields of action include human, animal and environmental health. Through its various initiatives, the AAHS aims to become a hub for health development in Africa, promoting scientific innovation and organising symposia and congresses to contribute to the sustainable improvement of African health systems.
