Morocco – Mali : cooperation in social protection

On 03 March 2024, the Malian Minister of Health and Social Development, Assa Badiallo met with the Moroccan Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family, Awatef Hayar, to discuss the development prospects of the cooperation between the two countries in the field of social protection. The meeting also served as an opportunity to review and share the experiences and the different services provided to citizens in the two countries in the social field.

In an effort to reduce poverty and vulnerability, the governments of Morocco and Mali on 03 March 2024 in Rabat  had a head-to-head talk on the development prospects of the cooperation between the two countries in the field of social protection. This  includes benefits for children and families, maternity, unemployment, sickness, old age and  disability.

The  discussion also highlighted the sustained efforts made by Morocco to consolidate the pillars of the social state, women’s economic empowerment and the establishment of the principles of equality under the  leadership of King Mohammed VI, according to Moroccan Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family, Awatef  Hayar.

In the Kingdom of Morocco, the generalization of global medical coverage and the unified social register are part of approaches that favor convergence and the effectiveness of interventions. According to Minister Awatef Hayar, Morocco has set itself as an example in the African Continent in promoting family well-being and protection of the rights of girls and women, citing in particular the “Jissr” program. family, which consists of social centers spread throughout the Kingdom with the aim of raising awareness among families as soon as they are formed.
