Mozambican government figures published on March 1, 2024 show that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is heavily dependent on the mining industry and the mining sector, reaching 10.55% in 2022,to 32.58% in the first quarter of 2023 and 42.71% in the second quarter of the same year. According to the executive, no other sector of the economy has achieved a similar performance, and several sectors have seen the opposite result, namely construction, down 10.31%, manufacturing, down 7.77%, and fishing, down around 9.16%.
