The Governor of Oshikoto, in northern Namibia, denounced corruption on May 14, 2026, as a major obstacle to development and democracy, calling for stronger institutions and greater public trust. During a workshop on the anti-corruption strategy, the Anti-Corruption Commission recalled that it investigates economic crimes and assesses related risks. The fight against corruption is based on the national action plan, which includes 95 measures implemented by 44 institutions, as well as a USD 1.2 million program aimed at modernizing investigations and using artificial intelligence to detect illicit financial flows.
