The African Union has condemned the attack on Niamey’s Diori Hamani International Airport, claimed by JNIM, and expressed its solidarity with Niger. In a statement, AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf praised the response of Nigerien security forces and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to combating terrorism. The assault, carried out on Thursday, left 13 people dead, including 11 soldiers and two civilians, while 22 attackers were reportedly neutralized. Benin also denounced the attack on the strategic infrastructure and reiterated its support for Niger.
