The Nigerian government has announced the evacuation of 603 of its nationals from South Africa amid a resurgence of anti-immigrant tensions. A third flight recently brought 269 people back to Lagos, bringing the total number of evacuees to 603 so far. Nigerian authorities also said they intend to seek compensation from Pretoria for properties and businesses abandoned by returnees in South Africa, adding that they have begun documenting losses ahead of planned bilateral talks.
