On Saturday 20 June, in Diamniadio, near Dakar, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye officially opened AVCI Global Industrie’s textile production facility. This opening demonstrates the government’s commitment to revitalising the national industrial base. Aimed primarily at women and young people, the factory is expected to create around 200 direct jobs.

On Saturday 20 June 2026, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, officially inaugurated AVCI Global Industrie’s new textile production facility, located in the heart of the Diamniadio urban centre. This major industrial facility is seen as a strategic driver for the local processing of raw materials, particularly cotton, and forms part of the government’s commitment to revitalising the national industrial base in order to strengthen Senegal’s economic sovereignty.

“It is with immense pride and deep satisfaction that I stand before you today to celebrate the launch of the AVCI Global factory. Indeed, there is a whole story behind this factory that is opening today, and this factory signals that the country is getting back to work.”

Beyond its symbolic impact, this industrial project has a strong social dimension, with the planned creation of nearly 200 direct jobs, prioritising women and young people in the region. By helping to anchor the value chain within the country, the AVCI Global Industrie factory also aims to become a centre of excellence for the transfer of technical knowledge, thereby ensuring sustainable local expertise in the textile sector.

“And in this language that I hear today, here in Diamniadio, I am delighted to mark the inauguration of AVCI Global Industries in the special economic zone, which also serves, in part, to reconcile our country with its industrial past whilst resolutely looking towards the ambitious future we have mapped out.”

This inauguration forms part of the Head of State’s visit to Diamniadio, which included a test run of the new section of the TER line to the AIBD and the opening of Sébikotane station. Bassirou Diomaye Faye reaffirmed his vision of a sovereign economy that makes the most of national resources. The AVCI Global Industrie factory marks a significant step in the revival of the textile sector by enabling the local processing of cotton – previously exported in its raw state – thereby capturing the value chain within Senegal.
