On an official visit to Senegal since July 23, 2025, Trần Thanh Mẫn, President of the National Assembly of Vietnam, was received by his Senegalese counterpart, El Malick Ndiaye. The meeting between the two National Assembly Presidents is part of a shared desire to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue. Their discussions focused on the mechanisms to be put in place to intensify collaboration between the two legislative institutions, notably through regular working visits, joint seminars, and the sharing of experiences in governance, legislation, and parliamentary transparency.

Vietnam is a strategic trading partner, particularly in the rice sector, where it accounts for nearly 10% of Senegalese consumption. Senegal, for its part, exports a variety of high-value products to Vietnam, including cashew nuts, fishmeal, cotton, and seafood, among others, which demonstrates the richness of our agriculture and our fishing potential.

This parliamentary diplomacy that we have with Vietnam will underpin economic diplomacy.
