Mauritanian Sidi Ould Tah officially took office as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Monday, September 1, 2025. Elected in May with more than 76% of the votes, he succeeds the Nigerian Akinwumi Adesina. Diplomat, economist, former President of the BADEA, the new president wants to mobilise the institution for the major challenges of the African continent: mobilise more than $400 billion per year for infrastructure, capitalise on Africa’s demographic dividend and diversify funding sources.
