The Interview – Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service – Nigeria : « we are beginning to bring reforms that address the challenges faced by exporters »

Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Nigeria’s Comptroller General of Customs service, is our guest in this edition of the Interview. Under CAFTA, customs duties on 90% of liberalised goods will be reduced by 2030 at the latest, and by 7% by 2035. However, countries are authorised to tax 3% of the goods produced. How is Nigeria, which has ratified the agreement, preparing for these changes? This West African country, which will rank among the four largest African economies in 2024, has a population of 230 million, making it a vast market for producers, importers and exporters.
