Ugandan military chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced his candidacy for the 2031 presidential election. The son of incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, he also heads the Patriotic League of Uganda. He had previously announced his intention to run in the 2026 presidential election before withdrawing his candidacy.
